‘Huge’ iPhone 6 sales drive iOS to 40% smartphone market share in Australia, US, UK and Japan — During the last 12 days of Q3 2014, Apple “experienced a huge jump in sales share across almost all major markets thanks to the launch of the iPhone 6,” reported Dominic Sunnebo of Kantar Worldpanel, enabling iOS to reach or exceed 40 percent market share in Australia [whose figures may include NZ sales since it’s the same administrative territory], US, UK and Japan.

Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus ship times improve in time for holidays —  Apple’s supply chain is making significant progress in catching up with demand, as all non-128GB iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models now show ship-by times of three to five days (5K Retina iMacs are listed as ready to ship in one to two weeks, so that’s improved too).

Phabulous — iPhone 6 Plus accounted for 41% of Q4 US ‘phablet’ sales in one month. According to a new report from Kantar World Panel, the iPhone 6 Plus accounted for 41% of all phablet sales in the three month period ending October 31, 2014.

Apple mass transit system for Maps detailed in new patent — A pair of patent filings uncovered on Thursday reveal what could be Apple’s answer to mass transit mapping, a highly requested feature since Google Maps was replaced in iOS by the first-party Apple Maps in 2012.
