macOS Sierra 10.12.1, no touchscreen Macs, AT&T


Apple updates macOS Sierra to 10.12.1 with Mail, Safari, Photos fixes — After a month-long beta period, Apple has released the update to macOS Sierra 10.12.1 with iPhone 7 Photos compatibility fixes, Safari security enhancements, and more. macOS 10.12.1 update adds an automatic smart album in Photos for Depth Effect images from the iPhone 7 Plus, improves Microsoft Office compatibility with iCloud Desktop and Documents, fixes some Mail issues related to Microsoft Exchange, rectifies an issue with incorrect paste text with Universal Clipboard, improves Auto Unlock functionality with Apple Watch, and improves stability and security in Safari.

Don’t expect touchscreen Macs at this week’s ‘hello, again’ event (or anytime in the near future) — We may see touchscreen iMacs some day, but it won’t be at Apple’s “hello, again” event on Thursday.

AT&T will acquire Time Warner for US$85.4B in content play — AT&T said it will acquire Time Warner for US$85.4 billion, reflecting a continuing trend for the consolidation of communications and media companies. The deal will combine content from Time Warner, which has a film studio and a vast library of entertainment, with AT&T’s distribution network of mobile services, broadband and TV in the US, Mexico and Latin America, AT&T said late Saturday.
