Swanky Watch Docks, iOS, tvOS and Watch updates, Apple TV optical port, iPhone SE for power users

Native Union Apple Watch Charging Docks — With its sleek form and rotating arm, these new charge stations showcase the beautiful design of your Apple Watch and lets you conveniently view and navigate the watch face as it recharges. NZ$189 from MacGear, and check out their new iPhone cases with wood and canvas while you’re there.

iOS 9.3.2 focuses mainly on under-the-hood performance — Plus improvements and bug fixes (iPhone SE Bluetooth issues; an issue where looking up dictionary definitions could fail; squashes a bug that prevented typing email addresses when using the Japanese Kana keyboard in Mail and Messages; an issue for VoiceOver users using Alex voice, where the device switches to a different voice to announce punctuation or paces) but it also restores Night Shift in Low Power Mode. You can get it via the General>Software Updates component of the Settings app [my preferred method is to plug the iPhone into the Mac with the USB cable and install it through iTunes, as it’s so much quicker].

tvOS 9.2.1 and watchOS 2.2.1 are designed to deal with various bugs — The tvOS update can be found in the fourth-generation Apple TV’s settings app. Apple Watch updates are installed through the iOS Watch app on a connected iPhone.

Adapter restores optical port to Apple TV — Kanex’s HDMI AV/Digital Adapter lets you stream HD content from theApple TV (or Amazon fireTV, Nexus Player or Roku) to an HDTV, 4K monitor, or projector with surround sound audio support. The US$59.95 adapter supports 5.1 surround sound via standard optical audio, or 2.0 surround sound via the 3.5mm audio port. This means you can listen to your favorite music, podcasts, T.V. shows, and radio apps with your existing home theater sound system or sound bar.

The iPhone SE is for power users, too — That’s what Dave Hamilton maintains: “The speed of the iPhone SE is stellar. It blazes through everything I need. Apps launch quickly, web pages come up fast and it’s everything that I would want as a power user.”
