Apple serves up five free iOS apps to celebrate Leap Year
February 29 (yesterday) — Apple wanted you to Leap Into Leap Year with your extra 24 hours. The company offered five iOS app you can get for free on Feb. 29 only (that’s today). Of course, since NZ lives in the future, we didn’t know and we’ve already missed it. The apps were:
Tayasui Sketches+, a drawing tool;
Super Sharp, a game in which you use your finger to ‘cut’ through 120 physics levels;
Windy, an app designed to help you sleep, relax, and focus better;
Bridge Constructor, a bridge building game;
Spark Camera, a tool for letting you capture, edit, and share videos.
Have a go though, you never know … the US lag might work in our favour. If it still says Get instead of Buy, they’re still free.
Health monitoring and our iDevices, Watch — Steven Sande of Apple World Today had a health scare and tells how his Watch and iPhone helped him through it.
Smart, uh, shoes — Under Armour announced its Record-equipped SpeedForm Gemini 2 sneakers at CES, and they finally go on sale February 29. These smart shoes integrate Under Armour’s clothing with its fitness apps, which include MapMyRun, MyFitnessPal, and UA Record. The Record-equipped Geminis don’t look a whole lot different from their dumb predecessors, but these sneakers are downright intelligent. Caitlin McGarry tested them out.
