Apple religion, Free becomes Get in iTunes Store, Facebook Groups, WALTR iTunes alternative

The 'free' button now says 'Get' – but do remember to check on the front page of the iTunes Store weekly to see what you think of the free song

Please stop comparing Apple to a religion — “In the third week of September, thousands of people organized themselves into neat lines that snaked along the city blocks of New York, Seattle, London, and dozens of other cities around the world. Sleeping in cardboard boxes, or keeping wakeful vigil through the night, they were participants in a biennial ritual: waiting in line to buy the new iPhone…” The Macalope is not impressed.

Apple changes App Store “Free” button to say “Get” — Back in the day (as in yesterday) you could go to the App Store and tap a button that said FREE to download a free app. From today, you’ll be tapping a button that says GET. Why? Speculation is that issues regarding in-app purchases and litigation overseas may be to blame.

Now that Facebook has groups — Macworld reckons it’s a feature you’ll want.

Goodbye iTunes, WALTR Uploads any Media File to your iPhone and iPad — iTunes is the only option Apple gives us for loading media onto our iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from our Macs, and it limits the audio and video file formats we can upload.
Until WALTR from Softorino: This awesome Mac app lets you upload a long list of file formats — such as MKV, AVI, MP4, CUE, FLAC, APE, ALAC, OGG, AAC, AIFF and WAV — to your iOS device without ever touching iTunes.
You can try out WALTR for free and a license costs US$14.97.
